Ned’s Point Lighthouse stands guard where the Mattapoisett River meets Buzzards Bay in the town of Mattapoisett, Massachusetts. Built in 1838, this picturesque lighthouse has weathered the storms of Buzzards Bay for over 180 years. Its 39-foot tower is constructed of brick and still has the original lantern room at the top. The lighthouse was automated in 1923 and remains an active aid to navigation maintained by the U.S. Coast Guard. With its white conical tower contrasting against the natural scenery, Ned’s Point Lighthouse is considered one of the most picturesque lighthouses in Massachusetts.
